About the Blog

Welcome to Through a Glass Onion, a blog focused on literature, religion, the arts, and technology. As I am a practicing Catholic, much of the content will be about Catholicism (general or personal).

As you may know the title of this blog refers to a song by The Beatles. Appearing on The White Album in 1968, “Glass Onion” pokes fun at fans’ tendency to over-analyze the band’s lyrics. John Lennon wrote the song and included several references to the band’s songs within its meaningless and playful lyrics. In short, the song was a sarcastic retrospective on the band’s work and the constant analysis their lyrics always encountered. “Glass onion” is a slang term for a monocle. In much the same way that a monocle aims at helping one see clearer through a narrow lens, this blog will aim to shed some light on the various topics covered. There will be analysis, there will be commentary, book and music reviews, and shout outs to impressive sites on the web. There will also be plenty of randomness. =)

My hope is that you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I enjoy writing it.

If you are interested in a book or music review, please review the policies above. If you have further comments or questions, please send me a message via the comment form or via email to angelica[at]throughaglassonion.com.
