Music Review: Your Time By Sarah Kroger

Your Time by Sarah Kroger (2011) Once in a while a song pops up that makes one sit up and take notice. For me, those songs are usually lyric-driven and reach to the very core of me. I love songs with depth in the words and interpretation. Anyone can write or sing a song, but not just anyone can really make a song mean something, especially the first time a listener hears it. A few weeks ago, I heard a [...]

Music Monday: Roll Away Your Stone by Mumford and Sons

I love Mumford and Sons! Their song lyrics always have a depth of meaning that is hard to find in popular music these days.

Still Love My Enemies by Ooberfuse (Music Review)

God calls us each to a unique ministry. For British Catholic band Ooberfuse it comes in the form of electro-pop music that spreads the message of the Gospel. I admit that prior to the Pope’s visit to the UK last year I hadn’t heard any of Ooberfuse’s music. Thankfully, having their Heart’s Cry chosen as the official youth anthem of the UK visit helped them gain the notice of several UK news outlets—both mainstream and Christian. Who else can use [...]

Music Monday: Magnificent by U2

This is one of my favorite U2 songs. Last night, my friend told me that he had just come back from a U2 concert and loved it. I couldn’t stop thinking about this song since that conversation. Beautiful lyrics: I was born to sing for you I didn’t have a choice but to lift you up And sing whatever song you wanted me to I give you back my voice From the womb my first cry, it was a joyful [...]

Music Monday II: Every Teardrop is a Waterfall by Paul Jisung Kim

This is sooo good that it prompted me to have a 2nd Music Monday selection today. Check out Paul Jisung Kim’s performance of Coldplay’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.” He does all the singing and his own accompaniment using only his voice/mouth. He’s got some other great songs on his YouTube channel so check it out!

Music Monday: Sparrow by Audrey Assad

I’ve written about Audrey Assad and her fantastic voice several times on this blog. She is doing wonderful things with her songwriting and her voice. In today’s Music Monday selection, Audrey sings a new and absolutely beautiful version of “His Eye is on the Sparrow” (a song that holds special meaning for me). I love this song and the way Audrey sings it. There is something about Audrey’s voice that speak to the heart. Her honesty, her passion, and her [...]

Music Monday: David Cook

A new one from the talented David Cook: His new album,This Loud Morning, drops tomorrow (June 28th)!

Of Broken Strings and Conversion

Well, I’ve been posting up quite a bit about Matt Maher lately. He just keeps popping up and sharing a little bit of himself with all of us each day. Two days ago, Matt posted a new video up on his YouTube channel. The video is a reflection on conversion, repentance, and being able to turn back to Jesus no matter how far we’ve strayed. God’s grace gifts us with the ability to “turn around.” It is a nice preview [...]

Matt Maher’s New Single – “Turn Around”

Last week I wrote about the September 20th release of Matt Maher’s third studio recording. Today, Provident Label Group announced some exciting news about the release and Matt’s touring efforts in the upcoming months. K-Love recently released a video recording of Matt’s new single “Turn Around”–three weeks before the single’s July-release on iTunes. “Turn Around” is a fine song that deals with the themes of pain, loss, desperation, grace, redemption, and love. Another great song from Matt. Enjoy.

Music Monday: “Ca C’est Bon” by L’Angelus

Very few people know of my love of Cajun and Zydeco music. This music has been a staple in my home for a long time. No one expects such a love from a born and bred San Franciscan–neither do they expect that someone like me would have a passion for country or bluegrass music. But, there ya’ go! My musical tastes cover the entire musical spectrum. Today’s musical selection is “Ca C’est Bon” by L’Angelus, a young sibling band from [...]
